In 2023, it would be incredibly challenging to emulate every original Game Boy Pokémon title on top of re-creating the transfer ability to a Nintendo 64 digital port.
While it was heavily rumored back in April that Nintendo was working on emulating Game Boy transfers, it was also pure speculation and never guaranteed. It's not that surprising though, as the original feature relied on the Game Boy connecting to the Nintendo 64. While the original Pokémon Stadium had default Pokémon that players could still choose to battle with, the transfer ability played a large part in the game's central appeal, as players could battle with the Pokémon they had caught and trained up. Based on Nintendo's description, not a single Pokémon will actually be transferrable to the 2023 port. For example, a player's Charizard caught in Pokémon Yellow Special Pikachu Editionwill not be compatible with the Nintendo Switch Online port.
